Furniture Storage During Renovation in Singapore

Renovating an occupied home means finding space for the furniture before work starts. A spare room may be enough for a small project. For flooring, electrical work or a renovation across several rooms, moving furniture into storage can give your contractor more room to work.
Moving Solutions provides furniture storage in Singapore for HDB flats, condos and landed homes. Packing, collection and delivery can also be arranged around your renovation schedule.
Decide what should go into storage
Walk through the renovation scope with your contractor. Identify the rooms that need to be empty and which access routes must stay clear. Then make three lists:
Keep with you: medication, identity documents, valuables, work equipment, chargers, clothes and daily essentials for your temporary accommodation.
Store: furniture and packed belongings you will not need until the renovated rooms are ready.
Donate or dispose of: items you have decided not to bring back. Make this decision before estimating your storage volume.
If you are renovating in phases, check whether furniture can stay safely in an unaffected room. Avoid planning around repeatedly shifting heavy items through an active work area.
Estimate space from your items
A four-room flat does not have one fixed storage requirement. One household may store only bedroom furniture; another may need space for almost everything.
Send photographs of each room, an item list and the approximate number of cartons. Include the dimensions of large sofas, wardrobes, dining tables and other bulky pieces. Flag items that may need dismantling and anything fragile or unusually heavy. Our team can then assess the space required.
Storage-only price
Storage only is S$60 per cubic metre (m³) per month. No GST charged.
For example, an assessed volume of 5 m³ is S$300 for one month of storage. This is a calculation based on volume, not a recommended allowance for a particular flat size. Confirm your assessed volume, minimum charge, billing period and extension arrangements before booking. See the storage page for more volume examples.
Plan collection before renovation starts
Agree the last date the property needs to be clear. Leave time for packing, the collection itself and your handover to the contractor.
For condos, check the move-out application, service lift slot, loading bay and building protection requirements with management. For HDB and landed homes, tell us about stairs, lift access, parking and the route between the home and the truck. Our house-moving guide explains the access details to share.
Keep one checklist with the collection date, renovation start, expected completion and your temporary address. The expected completion date is a planning estimate; confirm delivery once the home is ready.
Pack for the whole storage period
Empty, clean and dry appliances before packing, following the manufacturer's instructions.
Label every carton with its room and a short contents description. Keep a numbered inventory on your phone.
Group furniture fittings in labelled bags and record which item they belong to.
Photograph furniture before packing and flag existing damage or delicate finishes.
Keep food, liquids, hazardous materials and irreplaceable valuables out of storage.
Tell the team before packing if you expect to need particular items during the storage period.
If you need help preparing your belongings, ask about packing services. Confirm any special care or environmental requirements for artwork, instruments or sensitive equipment before arranging storage.
If renovation takes longer
Contact the storage team when you learn that the schedule may change. Confirm the revised storage period and discuss a new delivery window. Avoid relying on an estimated contractor completion date as a confirmed furniture delivery booking.
Keep your essentials separate so a delay does not leave you without medication, documents or the equipment needed for work. If you are also staying elsewhere, use our guide to belongings between homes.
Before bringing furniture home
Check with your contractor that the rooms are ready for furniture and that any finish, flooring or paint instructions have been met. Complete cleaning and keep the delivery route clear. Confirm lift access or loading arrangements again if your building requires a new booking.
Share a simple room plan so the crew knows where items should go. On delivery, compare items with your inventory and inspect them as you unpack.
