Storage Options in Singapore
If your move-out and move-in dates don't line up, you generally have two paths: rent a self-storage unit and move items yourself, or use move-linked storage where a mover picks up, stores, and redelivers for you.
Self-Storage
You rent a unit directly and handle the trip yourself, or hire a one-off job to move things in. This suits people who need to access their items regularly, since you keep a key.
Move-Linked Storage
We pick up, pack and protect items, hold them, then redeliver when you're ready. This suits renovation gaps, handover mismatches, or staged office moves, since it's one coordinated job instead of two.
- When it fits: renovation still running after move-out, handover dates that don't match, staged office relocation, decluttering before a sale
- Storage-only pricing: S$60 per pallet per month. Minimum one pallet for one month; each pallet provides 1 m² of floor space. No GST charged.
- Access: flag upfront if you'll need to retrieve items mid-storage, since access needs advance notice
Which One to Pick
If you need frequent access and don't mind handling transport yourself, self-storage is more flexible. If you'd rather have pickup, storage and redelivery handled as one job with no separate transport to arrange, move-linked storage is usually less hassle for a one-off gap.
Planning Storage During Renovation
Make a room-by-room list of furniture and cartons before asking for a quote. Mark what stays with you, what needs packing or dismantling, and what goes into storage. Keep medication, passports, valuables and daily essentials outside the storage load.
Give the mover your required collection date and estimated renovation completion date. Confirm storage billing and extension arrangements in case the works take longer. Before redelivery, check that the rooms are ready and arrange the necessary lift and loading bay bookings.
When Your Move-Out and Move-In Dates Do Not Match
Start with the deadline you know: handing over your current home. Share that date and an estimated storage period, even if your next address is not confirmed. Keep items for temporary accommodation separate and label cartons by room so the final delivery is easier to organise.
Confirm how much notice is needed for redelivery and what happens if you need an item partway through storage. Collection and final delivery may have different building access requirements.
Storing Office Furniture Between Premises
List workstations, cabinets and cartons by department. Identify what staff need during the gap and coordinate IT backups and shutdowns with your own IT team. Discuss delivery in stages if parts of the new office will be ready at different times.
Confirm Your Storage Arrangement
Confirm your pallet count, billing dates and extension arrangements before booking. Half-month extensions are available after the first month; see the storage page for the grace-period rules. Tell the team about any packing or dismantling you need, and items you may want to access during storage.
See moving and storage services for the full breakdown of what can and cannot be stored, and how pricing works.
