How Far Ahead Should You Book Movers in Singapore?

You've found your new home, picked a moving date, and now there's one question left: how early do you need to book your movers?

The short answer: for most home moves in Singapore, aim to book 2 to 4 weeks ahead. If you're moving on a weekend, at month-end or during the school holidays, give yourself 4 to 6 weeks.

But plans don't always work out that neatly. Handover dates change, leases end sooner than expected, and sometimes you only get the keys at 9pm. So this guide covers both: how to plan ahead, and what to do when you can't.

How Far Ahead Should You Book? A Quick Guide

How early you book depends on the size of your move and when it falls. As a general guide:

Type of move Recommended lead time
Small move (studio, room or a few items) 1 to 2 weeks
HDB or condo move on a weekday 2 to 4 weeks
Weekend, month-end or public holiday move 4 to 6 weeks
Large home or landed property 4 to 6 weeks
Office or business relocation 6 to 8 weeks
Need to move this week, or today? Contact us now, urgent and same-day slots may still be available
The earlier you book, the more choice you have over your date and time slot.

What Affects How Early You Should Book?

Your moving date

Weekends fill up first, because most people don't need to take leave. The first and last few days of the month are also busy, since that's when many tenancies start and end. If your date falls on any of these, book earlier.

Peak periods in Singapore

The June and year-end school holidays are popular times to move, especially for families. The weeks before Chinese New Year also get busy, as many people want to settle in before the festive season. Plan further ahead if your move lands in any of these periods.

The size of your move

A one-room move can often be slotted in quickly. A full family home with lots of furniture, or an office move, needs more planning, more manpower and sometimes more than one lorry.

Building requirements

Many condos require you to book the service lift or loading bay in advance, and some only allow moves at certain times. Check with your management office before you confirm a date with your movers.

Extra services

If you need packing, furniture dismantling, storage or disposal, let your mover know early so the team can plan for it.

Why Booking Early Helps

If you have the time, booking early gives you:

  • Your preferred date and time. Weekend and morning slots are the first to go.

  • Time to compare and plan. You can get a proper quote, ask questions and sort out extras without rushing.

  • Less stress closer to the day. With the move confirmed, you can focus on packing, decluttering and handover.

A simple booking timeline

  1. 6 to 8 weeks before: Confirm your move-out and move-in dates. Start decluttering.

  2. 4 to 6 weeks before: Get a quote and book your movers, especially for weekend or month-end moves.

  3. 2 to 3 weeks before: Book your condo service lift or loading bay. Arrange disposal for items you're not taking.

  4. 1 week before: Confirm timings with your mover and finish packing non-essentials.

  5. Moving day: Be on site, or have someone there, to guide the team.

Can't Book Early? Last-Minute Moves Are Still Possible

Planning ahead is ideal, but real life doesn't always cooperate. Maybe:

  • Your landlord needs the unit back sooner than expected

  • Your new home's handover date was brought forward

  • Your renovation finished early, or late

  • A previous mover cancelled on you

  • You simply ran out of time

If that's you, don't panic. Moving Solutions offers urgent and same-day moving slots, subject to team availability. Even if you need to move this week, or today, it's worth reaching out.

How to get a last-minute move confirmed fast

The quicker we understand your move, the quicker we can check availability. WhatsApp us:

  1. Photos of your belongings, especially large furniture and appliances

  2. Your current and new addresses, including the property type (HDB, condo or landed)

  3. Your preferred date and time, plus how flexible you can be

  4. Any extra services needed, such as packing, dismantling, storage or disposal

Tips for a smooth last-minute move

  • Be flexible on timing. A weekday, mid-month or evening slot is often easier to secure at short notice.

  • Check your building rules straight away. Condo lift bookings can be the biggest bottleneck.

  • Pack the essentials first. Documents, chargers, medication and a change of clothes.

  • Let us handle the rest. Our team can pack for you, so you don't need to spend your last few nights surrounded by boxes.

Can't Move During the Day? Try a Night Move

Not everyone can take a day off. And sometimes you only get access to your new home in the evening.

Moving Solutions offers late-night and midnight moves, subject to availability. A night move can be a good fit if:

  • You work during the day and can't take leave

  • You only get the keys to your new place in the evening

  • You're relocating an office and can't disrupt business hours

  • All the daytime slots on your date are already taken

  • You want to avoid daytime traffic and heat

Before you book a night move

  • Condos: Check with your MCST or management office first. Many restrict moving hours and need advance service lift or loading bay bookings.

  • HDB and landed homes: Access is usually more flexible, but keep noise in mind for your neighbours.

  • Offices: Confirm after-hours access and security arrangements with building management.

Was just scrolling to find a mover, yes! First-timer, just simply 2 words "HIGHLY RECOMMENDED"! From liaising with April to final moving was smooth sailing. Arrangement from April's service was way and beyond! She replied promptly and never fail to provide updates and to sending quotation. Not only these, the movers have to walk very far to load and unload my items and they did so with so much politeness and without showing any displeasure. April even checked in to ensure the movers are on the way to my place. The movers were so swift and careful with the items, ensuring my items will not get damaged any even stacking fragile things away from heavier boxes. They will gauge if it is suitable to place the boxes on top of each other. I have never been so pleased with such an extreme good service! Good job! Highly recommended! Keep the good going! Good luck!

One of the fastest and smoothest transactions I've ever had! April was super accommodating. First spoke to her back in May but had to hold off because of a change of plans. She never made me feel like it was a hassle. Instead, she was genuinely grateful we considered her team.

Fast forward to July, we suddenly needed to move within 24 hours. I reached out and she immediately arranged everything. On moving day, her team handled packing, wrapping, uninstalling shelves, and more, all done in just less than 3 hours. Way quicker than expected.

Super efficient, easy to talk to, and definitely value for money. Plus, they're friendly and even gave us discounts. Honestly the best partner we worked with by far in SG. Highly recommended. They're now our go-to moving service.
